Suicide Prevention
SOSBSA believes to really significantly reduce the suicide rate, individuals and the community as a whole should be aware of the warning signs follow this link to the appropriate page on the Suicide Callback Service Website. Not only the signs but also becoming more aware of the issues which seem to be factors influencing suicidal behaviour ( risk factors*,eg: mental illness including depression, prior suicidal behaviour, feeling isolated from/by one's community, bullying, unemployment, substance abuse, problems coming to terms with lifechanging incidents/issues, extremely impulsive, trauma and abuse , and others follow this link to the appropriate page on the suicidepreventionfnq site ) and acting with compassion to empower individuals and communities to prevent and/or manage these.
Suicide does not discriminate and every suicide is unique in its own way.

Depression - it's been around a long time.

Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill are famous leaders who suffered terrible bouts of depression but they learnt to manage their condition and that is what we urge sufferers to do too. Reach out, strive to survive.

It's important to note that most people who have these problems do not suicide. We do not know what really causes someone to suicide but if we are aware of the warning signs and risk factors then there may be a chance that someone's suicide may be prevented. Lets try to break through before their "brain talk" convinces them there is no other option.
